Responding to McCain’s repackaging of himself and his running mate as agents of change, Barack Obama said this yesterday:
“That’s just calling something the same thing, something different,” Obama said in Lebanon, Virginia. “But you know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”
“You can you can, wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still going to stink after 8 years,” he added. “We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”
Because it is impossible to criticize Sarah Palin without being a sexist, the McCain campaign expressed outrage – outrage! — at Obama’s attack on Palin’s gender:
“Barack Obama’s comments today are offensive and disgraceful,” McCain-Palin spokesperson Maria Comella said in a statement yesterday. “He owes Governor Palin an apology.”
As the McCain campaign correctly points out, it has been proven conclusively that characterization of a female opponent’s policies as “lipstick on a pig” is an attack on her gender. Obviously, what Obama meant is that Palin is morbidly obese, unattractive and unqualified for office because of her chesticles.
UPDATE:
The McCain campaign today released an ad in which it says that Barack Obama called Sarah Palin a pig.
First, he didn’t.
Second, this is a terrific distraction from the fact that John McCain has voted with George Bush 90% of the time.
Barack Obama is now being swift boated. They’re lying about him. Where is he? Where’s the party?
