McCain Resurgence Watch Update

I’ve been writing about the inevitable tightening of the presidential race. This is from Electoral-Vote.com:

National Race Getting Tighter
Here are the national polls today. Obama’s lead down slightly, to 5.7%

- Diageo (Obama +7)
- Gallup expanded (Obama +4)
- IBD (Obama +7)
- Rasmussen (Obama +5)
- Research 2000 (Obama +7)
- Zogby (Obama +4)

The real race of course is in the states, where Obama maintains a huge lead.

The other side of the inevitable tightening of the race pattern is that the McCain surge may be happening with too much time left on the clock. More than two weeks remain and it may be that 5.7% is the closest he gets.

People who moved to Obama and are now returning to McCain (specifically elderly voters), have time to get another look at their retirement savings and move back to Obama again.

UPDATE:

CNN: Obama’s lead has shrunk by two.
