Republican Party Felon Support Watch II

Yesterday, I noted that on its website, the Republican Party inexplicably continues to promote the candidacy of convicted felon Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska. Today, various fellow GOP-ers are calling on Stevens to resign, but that hasn’t kept the Republican party from continuing to support and raise money for him. Here’s the NRSC’s website today (only slightly modified):

Even funnier is the attack site the NRSC’s set up to go after Stevens’ opponent, Democratic Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich. Keep in mind as you read these that Stevens was convicted this week in federal court of seven counts of corruption for which he faces up to 35 years in jail:

The Alaska Public Offices Commission staff is recommending Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich be fined $1,420 for failing to disclose dividends he or his wife received from four publicly traded companies and for not listing his ownership in another.

If you want to drop in at City Hall for a visit with your mayor this week, you’re out of luck. He’s busy elsewhere.

In fact, the mayor — aka as Democratic Senate wannabe Mark Begich — is in Washington, D.C., attending a fund-raiser in his honor.

******

Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich (D) had more than $16,000 worth of tax liens put against his vending machine business in the 1990s, according to research provided by the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
