I don’t think it’s entirely fair to dig up videos and pictures of candidates doing goofy things in their youth. If a Naval Academy photo of John McCain wearing a toga and a lampshade were to surface, I don’t think anyone would care. It might actually improve his image.
But when the candidate as an older adult so thoroughly remains the stereotype of the person he or she was twenty five years ago, it’s fun to laugh at — not with — them.
