The Republican Disconnect Between Cause, Effect, and Repair

Karen Hughes is a former counselor to George W. Bush.  She supports John McCain and thinks that Barack Obama doesn’t really know what’s wrong with the economy.  That’s important, she said on Larry King last night, because “if you misdiagnose a problem, you can never fix it.”

Sarah Palin, the woman Hughes would like to see become vice president says about climate change that “it kind of doesn’t matter. . . what caused it, the point is, it’s real, we need to do somethin’ about it.”

So if Obama doesn’t get the diagnosis right, he can’t fix the problem. Palin, on the other hand, doesn’t even need to guess at the cause in order to solve it.

I must be missing something. It can’t be that Republicans have one standard for themselves and another for Democrats.
