Totally rational people brace for the end of American sovereignty

President Obama plans to attend the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen next week. The goal of that gathering is to reach an agreement limiting dangerous greenhouse emissions so that we don’t destroy our planet. Well, that’s the ostensible goal.

The geniuses on the far right who have taken over the Republican Party — led by Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck — have seen through Obama’s charade. They’ve discovered that the Copenhagen summit is actually part of President Obama’s plan to dissolve the United States and hand over our sovereignty to the United Nations. (You know the UN: That’s the New York-based organization with the black helicopters and America hatin’ ‘ferners) Oh, there are no actual facts to support the right’s belief about Copenhagen, but since Obama’s actually Malcolm X’s illegitimate son, was born overseas, and is a Marxist/Leninist/Nazi/al-Qaeda-affiliated Muslim libtard, it’s probably true anyway.

And here’s more proof (as if any was needed) — video of a right-winger wearing a cowboy hat. But this is no ordinary right-winger in a cowboy hat. This guy has a British accent and like many rational, non-bigoted people, fetishizes President Obama’s middle name. If your grandfather has an AOL account and uses 16-point cursive blue font, he’s probably sent it to you:

Remember, these are the same sophisticated policy analysts who managed to uncover “death panels” in health care legislation despite the fact that the death panels were so cleverly disguised within the bill that they weren’t actually there. That’s hard to do.

And as if that weren’t enough, they also recognized the grave danger to the republic posed by raising the marginal tax rate on the top 1% of earners from 36 to 39%. Well informed right-wingers have also warned of the possible internment of conservatives in concentration camps if citizens participate in the census. So they obviously analyze facts objectively, free of the kind of bias that might make other people lie about legislation simply to serve a psychotic, knee-jerk rejection of anything and everything the President does. The fact that he’s black is irrelevant to them. They’re color-blind.

Extremist conservatives are also super-patriotic, unlike liberals. They love America so much that just since our new President has taken office, they’ve threatened to dissolve the union, cheered when the US lost an Olympic bid, and prayed for the death of the commander in chief.

So when they say that Copenhagen is a fraud and that we’re about to lose our country forever, they’ve got a lot of credibility.
