National Day of Prayer held unconstitutional

Last week, Judge Barbara Crabb ruled that the National Day of Prayer — first established by Congress in 1952 — is unconstitutional. It’s pretty simple: The first amendment prohibits the government from establishing religion. The National Day of Prayer, established by the government, is an inherently religious exercise. Thus, it is unconstitutional.

Right wingers are predictably enraged, which is prima face evidence that the judge’s decision was the right one.
