This morning, I spoke to a (white) friend who immigrated to the US from South Africa.  He tells me that he’s having trouble deciding which meant more to him, his vote for Barack Obama or the one he cast  in 1994 for Nelson Mandela.

I’ve been more or less speechless all night.  A couple of weeks ago, Janice suggested I load up this clip for election night, so I did.  Frank Rich beat me to the punch in a column last week, but it’s still incredibly moving to watch this tonight:
